A rich fishing tradition continues

The Port Aransas Boatmen’s Association is thrilled to welcome you to the 89th Deep Sea Roundup! Each year, we are amazed by the outpouring of support from our incredible community and the many generations of anglers who make this tradition so special. Your generosity, whether through sponsorships, donations or volunteering, makes this event possible and we are deeply grateful.

Please note that PABA has made some clarifications to this year’s rules, so read them carefully before fishing begins on Friday morning.
The Boatmen are holding a fun contest this year. The person wearing the oldest Deep Sea Roundup Tournament shirt will win a pair of Bajio sunglasses (valued at $279 and generously donated by Bajio) along with a Deep Sea Roundup merchandise bag. The winner will be announced during the awards ceremony on Sunday. Think you’ve got the oldest tournament shirt? Be sure to check in with Kim or Michelle at any time during the event.

Registration will be held at the Port Aransas Civic Center. Due to ongoing construction, parking is limited. The city has generously offered a free overflow parking lot off Port Street (across from the ferry staging area) for Roundup participants and their guests. The Regional Transit Authority is also offering a shuttle to and from this parking site to Civic Center for which we are very thankful.

The piggy perch contest will be held at Roberts Point Park Pavilion. Young anglers should bring a bucket and towel. PABA will provide poles, hooks, and bait. After fishing on Saturday, Black Tie Catering will provide refreshments while we hand out Piggy Perch T-shirts and take our annual group photo, which is one of our favorite traditions!

Everyone is invited to join us at the Civic Center starting at 2 PM on Thursday, and again on Friday and Saturday evenings, to shop this year’s exclusive tournament merchandise, bid on amazing silent auction items (you do not need to be present to win) and enjoy delicious food and a full open bar. Dinner tickets are available for $20 for non-registered guests. Check the event guide for silent auction closing, catering and bar schedule.

Also, please join us on the dock at Roberts Point Park Friday and Saturday during weigh-in. Relax with a cold drink under the pavilion and watch the anglers bring in their catch. Which is one of the highlights of the weekend!

Each year, the Deep Sea Roundup honors the memory of those we have lost in our community. This year, we remember Collin Ocker, Jared Hunt, Caleb Harris, Penny Slingerland, Elisha Barr, Trey Olson, Donny Nesloney, Faye Lou Cross Miget, Tye Bralley, Shay Williams, Norman Howard, Capt. Jerry Massingail, Taylor Savage, Tim Frank, Heather Miller, Captain Tim Burdick, Albert “Bert” Howie, Byron Davis and Polly Anna Ayala. We invite the family and friends of these individuals to join us Sunday at the awards ceremony, where we will reserve special seating and take a moment to honor their memory before presenting trophies.

Thank you for being part of this beloved tradition. We can’t wait to see you all and celebrate another fantastic year creating memories!

Warm regards,
Michelle Sowers & Kim Winton
