The primary mission of the group was to protect their fishing waters, sponsor the Texas Tarpon Rodeo, and support community activities. Over the years, the old Boatmen’s Association has undergone changes in both name and mission. Of prime importance in the mission of the PAB is the funding of scholarships for the youth of Port Aransas. Mission Port Aransas Boatmen Incorporated is a non-profit organization, made up of charter boat owners and operators dedicated to providing services to the community of Port Aransas, Texas, in the form of scholarships and youth related activities. Your participation in PAB sponsored events such as the annual Deep Sea Roundup makes these services possible. Statement of Purpose The Port Aransas Boatmen are incorporated and have obtained Sec. 501c(6) Nonprofit Organization Status.The primary purposes of Port Aransas Boatmen, Inc. are to: Promote boating safety Promote good sportsmanship Promote conservation of natural resources and wildlife Foster and promote high standards in fishing industry Represent charter boat operators and recreational fishermen in legislative and regulatory issues which govern the fishing industry Provide financial support for community projects and scholarships Sponsor the Deep Sea Roundup (the oldest fishing tournament on the Gulf Coast) Membership Port Aransas Boatmen was formed in 1932 with 25 original members. We continue to support our statement of purpose and always welcome new members! Regular members that hold a valid U.S.C.G. captain’s license, must be sponsored by a member in good standing, and must be approved for membership by a vote of the regular membership. Individuals who do not hold a U.S.C.G Captain’s License may become non-voting associate members through the same process of sponsorship and vote of the regular members. After being a non-voting member for 3 years your are eligible to become a voting member by the vote of regular members.
